5-Year-Old Nativity Angel Gives Audience the Finger for 20 Minutes

As a performer, the decision to take bold, creative liberties with your role is often praiseworthy, but flipping the bird at the entire audience for twenty straight minutes as a nativity angel is a bit much.
Five-year-old Ella Legge prominently displayed her middle finger to the crowd for the majority of her school Christmas play – not because she was particularly perturbed with anyone, but because she was suffering from a hangnail.
âThere were a few laughs. I was thinking, âElla, please stop,” the little girl’s mother, Carla Bovingdon, recalled. âBut because I didnât run over, she kept holding it up as if to say, âMum, lookâ.
“It was so funny because she didnât realize what she was doing. She likes to let me know if sheâs at all injured.”

Realizing her mother was not going to tend to her grave injury, Ella decided to take matters into her own hangnail ridden hands.
“Then she put both her fingers up because she was trying to compare to see if both fingers were hurt,” Carla continued. âA few of the older children whispered, âEllaâs got her finger upâ.
âI was thinking, âOh god, Ella please stop.â Because she was doing it so innocently I think most people were thinking, âOh, bless herâ.”

Carla shared the hilariously crass photos on Facebook and was stunned to see the overwhelming response. People can’t seem to get enough of the accidentally offensive angel.
Ella even heard caught wind of her internet virality, prompting a warning from mom about dropping another ‘double-deuce’ in the following angelic performance as it “wouldn’t be funny this time.”
Solid parenting move, mom, but we heartily disagree on your reasoning.
