Parenthood does strange things to a person. It reorders your priorities, changes your perspective, allows you to see the world in a new way. Sometimes it even gives you superpowers… sort of.
We’ve all heard stories of moms and dads whose lightning-fast reflexes helped them pluck their kids from peril. Or how sudden surges of adrenaline have enabled parents to save kids from imminent danger. It turns out it doesn’t always take a dire situation to activate those parenting powers! A viral video posted by Happily features a young man named Jarius reuniting with his dad, who couldn’t be more excited.
Jarius is in the army, stationed in Fort Lewis in Washington. Due to pandemic protocols, he hasn’t seen his father in two years. The good son wanted to surprise his dad for his 70th birthday party, so earlier this summer, he strolled into the yard, much to his father’s delight. Jarius’s dad, Charles, was so delighted, in fact, that he summoned his parent powers and leaped off his porch, over the fence, to embrace his son.
Check it out, and never forget, parenting may make you gray, but 70 is the new 30!
