Dad’s Dance For Cancer-Fighting Son Goes Viral

Battling cancer is no small feat, especially when you’re a 15-month-old with Leukemia. That’s exactly the fight little Kristian Thomas is currently facing. Fortunately, he was recently cleared to go home with his family for the first time since his diagnosis.
This would be thrilling news for any parent, but when dance instructor Kennith “Clutch” Thomas got word, he couldn’t help but break out in his happy dance to the tune of Ciara’s “Level Up.”
Gotta love the audience participation from Kristian, too.
Thomas posted his cribside dance on his Instagram account with the hashtag #levelupchallenge, not knowing that such a challenge already existed. Then Ciara reposted it, making it one of the challenge’s most iconic videos to date with over 2.2 million views.
Thomas’s Instagram has since grown from a few thousand followers to an astonishing 30,000+ with droves of people offering their support for Kristian.
“There are many people in CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia)… that said they watched our videos every day for inspiration,” Thomas said. “Many people are telling us that our videos are inspiring them to fight. That’s the message at the end of the day: To fight.”
Thomas, who spent every night at the hospital during his son’s treatment, said his dream is that his son one day finds the purpose God has “laid upon him,” but knows he’s already been an inspiration to so many including himself.
Clearly this guy knows all the right moves, whether it’s on the dance floor or simply being an incredible dad.
Update 11/27: Kristian is cancer-free!
