NHL Mascot Channels Kool-Aid Man and Smashes Window at Kid’s Party

When you’re a kid, few things are cooler than a professional sports mascot showing up to your birthday party. That was the case for one lucky kid who had the New Jersey Devils mascot, NJ Devil, celebrating with him. The party took an unexpected turn when a fun game of parachute ended inexplicably with the Devil running into a plate-glass window.
My son’s birthday ended with a bang! We are so ready for this season thanks NJ Devil for coming to the birthday party. pic.twitter.com/cBtndy6UEC

I think my favorite part of the video is when the mascot puts his hands on his head, which is a pretty in-character way to react to the situation. He learned the hard way that not all glass is the sturdy plexiglass he’s used to at the rink.
A video with another angle shows just how hard his move killed the vibe and pumped the brakes on this party.

The New Jersey Devils feigned concern on Twitter, but the boy’s father later tweeted that no one was hurt (we assume this includes the mascot).
Cheers NJ Devil, your appearance was a smashing success! But his does nothing to change the fact that the title of best mascot in sports still belongs to Gritty.
