“We tried for many years to have biological children, and it just didn’t happen.
We sent for paperwork to start foster care and it sat (even moved houses with us) for almost two years before my husband brought it to me out of the blue and said fill it out.
We have fostered now for 6 years. We’ve had a total of eight foster loves, and my husband has been amazing with each of them. At one point he was working nights and taking care of a newborn during the day while I went to work!
He is beyond handy around the house and has turned every last square foot of our house into a functional living space. He turned our walk-up attic into an amazing bedroom for our two oldest sons, took an unused breakfast nook and turned it into a mud room/pantry, and I’m sure he is thinking of his next plan to make our home function even better for our big family.
We have five kids – we’ve adopted three, had a biological child three years ago, and we have a current six-month old foster love. My husband has made every child who has walked (or been carried) through our door feel safe and loved beyond words.
I’m sure when he brought me the paperwork this isn’t the life he imagined. We definitely said the words – ‘We will never own a minivan,’ and now every seat is full in one. And with every seat that has been filled I have watched his heart and love grow.
Andrew is an amazing Dad and I know quite a few kids who would agree with me on that.”
