For the first time in forever, we’re getting a new Peanuts holiday special. As Halloween nears, countless families will take that walk down memory lane when they flip on “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” It’s still the best kid’s Halloween special, even edging out that square pumpkin, Spookely.
Maybe you’re more of a “Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” fan, or still a sucker for the pinnacle of “Peanuts” holiday specials, “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Now there’s a new New Year’s Eve special, “For Auld Lang Syne” (the 1986 “Happy New Year, Charlie Brown” is still on there).

It will premiere on Apple TV+ in December and the story will focus on the Peanuts gang ringing in the new year after learning that Charlie Brown’s grandmother is unable to visit. This prompts Lucy to throw her own party, while Charlie Brown is on his own quest to finish one last resolution before midnight.
It’s the first Peanuts holiday special to not have Charlie Brown’s name in the title, but the star and his beloved pup are still the standouts. If you’re already on Apple TV+ for Ted Lasso and Jon Stewart’s new show, the Peanuts shows are a nice extra perk, because you can’t find them anywhere else. “For Auld Lang Syne” is the first new holiday special since Apple TV+ brought the Peanuts collection to its service, and it will be added to the holiday collection officially on December 10.
