Young Aquaman Fan Battling Cancer Gets a Call From Jason Momoa

While battling cancer is difficult for anyone, doing so as a young child is especially challenging. The obstacles that come with a cancer diagnosis are both physical and mental, but a unique difficulty for young children is that they often don’t fully understand what’s going on. They know they don’t feel well, and they likely realize that the adults around them are more stressed-out than usual. Fortunately, kids often have an admirable amount of perseverance and positivity, which allows them to fully embrace any distractions from their illnesses.

At just 4 years old, Danny Sheehan was diagnosed with Pineoblastoma, a cancerous and extremely aggressive brain tumor. Through his diagnosis and treatment, Danny remained strong. He maintained his enthusiasm for things he enjoyed, especially when it came to his favorite superhero, Aquaman.

The superhero genre is beloved by so many in part because it makes the impossible possible, and reminds us that there are still people fighting for us when things feel overwhelming (though they may not have Marvel-level superpowers, you don’t need ‘em to be someone’s hero). Through his treatments and far-too-long battle, Danny hasn’t wavered in his positivity, enthusiasm, or his love for Aquaman.

Recently, a video of Danny receiving an Aquaman action figure as a gift went viral for all the right reasons. The young boy’s enthusiasm is contagious, and his excitement is tangible. As he pulls the action figure and realizes his incredible fortune, his reaction is priceless.

Like many feel-good videos, it began to spread. In fact, it spread so far that it reached Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa. We all love celebrities that use their powers for good, and Jason Momoa is no exception. After seeing the video and learning about Danny’s admirable battle, Momoa decided to give him an even more unforgettable surprise – a call from Aquaman himself.

Momoa posted the heartwarming video to his Instagram with the caption, “So I just wanted to say thank you to the community, friends, and family on Instagram for reaching out and showing me this beautiful boy Danny who is going through chemo and has cancer,” the Aquaman star posted. “I saw his video online that made me want to get in touch and FaceTime him and spend some time talking to him. If you would like to help out and read more about his story and his family his go fund me is in my IG story and LINK IN BIO . Hey @wbpictures let’s get Danny a Aquaman Trident!”

“Hi Aquaman!” Danny says excitedly. “Can I tell you something very important?” leaving us all at the edge of our seats. “I. Love. Dolphins.”

Jason Momoa to Play Frosty the Snowman in Live-Action Movie

Remember when people were furious over Michael Keaton being cast as Batman, or over Daniel Craig being cast as James Bond, or over Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, or over Robert Pattinson being cast as Batman?

Wait ’til you get a load of this. To tide us over while we wait for a TWINS remake with Jason Momoa and Peter Dinklage….

There’s a live-action big-screen version of Frosty the Snowman in the works, for some reason, and yesterday Deadline announced that the people behind the big-budget holiday flick have found the perfect person to play their walking balls of snow: Jason Momoa!

Before you start crying and beseeching God and lighting yourselves on fire, take a second to think about it. He’s already played Aquaman, and what is Frosty the Snowman is not a different kind of water? THE MORE YOU KNOW!

“From his role as a fearsome count in a land of ice and fire to the oceanic success we all had with Aquaman, it felt only right to realize Jason this time out of snow,” said producer Jon Berg.

The former and future superhero will only be voicing the snowman, so the role won’t be relying on his legendary brawn. Instead, it seems the people behind this movie focused more on Momoa’s inner warmth.

Producer Greg Silverman explained, “We know Jason’s as a true human being filled with love, compassion and a deep connection to ohana — all of which is the living spirit of Xmas and Frosty.”

I have to admit that I’m not well-versed in Frosty’s lore, having only the animated cartoons from my childhood to lean on. But I do remember the guy was quite friendly, as one would expect of a Christmas icon, and Momoa’s intimidating, smoldering looks aside, he does have a solid reputation as a good guy.

Let’s just hope all his hotness doesn’t melt the snow!

Jason Momoa Releases Teaser From the Snyder Cut of Justice League

Snyder Cut Teaser
(HBO)

We have our first taste of Zack Snyder’s cut of the Justice League movie, which fans have been begging for. “The Snyder Cut” is the director’s original vision for the 2017 film, which he had to step away from during the post-production phase. And we have our first taste of it thanks to Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa.

Momoa posted the clip on Instagram, explaining that ‘the best part about being Aquaman is that Zack Snyder created me so I get to see all this awesome sh-t before anyone.”

The clip showed Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman uncovering a mural of Darkseid, the villain who was totally absent from the theatrical version of the movie.

There aren’t many details about Zack Snyder’s Justice League, other than it making it’s debut on HBO Max in 2021. The project reportedly cost another $20-$30 million to get the version he originally intended before Joss Whedon finished the film.

Fans, who have been campaigning for the project, are desperately hoping for more details at the upcoming DC FanDome event. And Snyder himself confirmed that’s likely.

Fans are thrilled to see the first glimpses of something they’ve waited years (well, three) for, and it looks like it will be pretty awesome (at least that’s what blind optimism and this sneak peek lead us to conclude!).

Peter Dinklage and Jason Momoa to Star in “Good Bad & Undead”

It’s a Game of Thrones reunion! Except it’s only two people from the show and has nothing to do with Game of Thrones. Deadline is reporting that Peter Dinklage and Jason Momoa will star in the action-adventure film, Good Bad & Undead which is a super clever and not overdone riff on the title, The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly — except without those pestering the’s. Legendary Pictures will front the cash and Max Barbakow will direct, whose most recent credit is the soon-to-be-released film, Palm Springs, which is currently sporting a cool 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is based on an original idea by Mark Swift & Damian Shannon.

According to Deadline, “Dinklage will play Van Helsing, last in a long line of vampire hunters. He develops an uneasy partnership with a vampire (Momoa) who has taken a vow never to kill again. Together they run a scam from town to town, where Van Helsing pretends to vanquish the vampire for money. But when a massive bounty is put on the vampire’s head, everything in this dangerous world full of monsters and magic is now after them. The intent is Midnight Run in a Bram Stoker world.”

Midnight Run meets Dracula” is the most ‘Hollywood’ thing I’ve ever heard and I can almost see executives salivating in a room somewhere. Someone definitely yelled, “It’s gold!” at one point.

Well color me excited. I’ve always wanted to see a Momoa-esque vampire (who is definitely already a vampire) run around grabbing people and yelling, “I’m a hugger!” And a British-accented Dinklage being all like, “You can’t scare people like that or we’re gonna get caught!” And then Momoa talking like Hulk Hogan being all like, “C’mon brother! You’re just mad cause I can live forever!” And then the other vampire slayers show up and they’re both like, “Uh-oh! LET’S GET OUTA HERE!” Man, those executives were right, this movie writes itself.

Actor Jason Momoa Loses Aquaman’s Trident in Arm Wrestling Match

For Hollywood’s top celebrities, it’s easy to write a check to support a cause or lend your name to a charity to help them raise funds. However, when celebrities give of their time, the results can be even more powerful than any sum of cash.

Take for example actor Jason Momoa. Easily one of the biggest current stars in both box-office power and physical size, Momoa has taken time out of his hectic schedule in order to give back to those who matter most: kids.

Momoa recently paid a visit to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. The Aquaman star shared photos to his personal Instagram, saying “The greatest part of being Aquaman is making children happy spreading aloha,” saying of his visit “met so many brave strong babies all my aloha to the families.”

One photo shows the megastar arm wrestling a patient at UPMC, with the caption “Me and Joshua bet that if he beat me in arm wresting [sic] he gets to have my trident.

Momoa admitting his eventual defeat: “See u on set of Aquaman 2 Joshua. Stay strong.”

Momoa visited several patients on this trip, giving some very sick kids not only hope, but an amazing story to tell their family and friends.

A quick look at the comments on Momoa’s post shows a plethora of verified blue check marks, a sure sign that Momoa has the power to not only inspire average folks but celebrities alike with his kindness and generosity.

The Game of Thrones star is obviously just one of the latest celebs to give of their time to those most deserving. Everyone from Matthew McConaughey to Freddy Krueger has donated their own personal time to help causes near and dear to their hearts.

Sure, the financial security of being a movie star is nice, but the reward of seeing a child’s face light up with excitement has to be a pretty damn special feeling too. We salute each and every person, famous or otherwise, who use their forum as a tool for good.

Jason Momoa Gets Mocked for Having a Dad Bod That Clearly Isn’t One

Jason Momoa's Supposed "Dad Bod"
(Twitter/Kimclar21535869)

Last month, we shared a story about the popularity of dad bods. Based on a poll conducted by Planet Fitness, not only are men comfortable with having a dad bod, women seem to appreciate them. The poll even suggested that many women prefer a little paunch to a six-pack.

The results of the poll seemed dubious, but an incident that occurred last week perhaps sheds some light on what those women are thinking. Because I’m not sure the phrase dad bod means what everyone thinks it means. Like the time Tom Brady got called out for having a dad bod.

Well, you’ve heard of Jason Momoa, right? Khal Drogo, Conan the Barbarian, Aquaman? The dude is a hunk, there are no two ways about it. And in those roles, he has what one might understatedly refer to as the exact opposite of a dad bod. But he was recently spotted on vacation, taking a well-deserved break from inciting drool wherever he goes, and it seems he’s completely let himself go. I mean, just take a look at the once buff movie star having gone to vacation-based seed, and sporting his brand new dad bod.

Some people on the internet were not happy with his less-than-chiseled physique.

Quite obviously, those people are insane, and not only don’t know what a dad bod is – the dude might not have Aquaman’s abs, but he’s still in enviable shape – but they are engaging in harmful body shaming. That’s right, men aren’t immune to it either.

Thankfully, common sense prevailed and the rest of social media defended the star.

Promoting unrealistic expectations for how someone should look is harmful to both physical and psychological health. Something tells me that Momoa is unfazed, as he enjoys a relaxing vacation with wife Lisa Bonet, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay. Especially not when most of the people doing the mocking probably have no idea what it takes to maintain an action star physique.

Sometimes, the internet can leave a bad taste in your mouth. Thankfully there remain heroes who can succinctly end the conversation with one well-considered comment:

Jason Momoa Is Dying to Remake TWINS With Peter Dinklage

For years, there’s been a rumor that a sequel to Twins was in the works.

Remember Twins? Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito as two unlikely twin brothers, the 1988 comedy endures as something of a bizarre relic of the 80s, but it has its fans. Among them, apparently was Eddie Murphy, who was allegedly going to star alongside Arnold and Danny as yet another unlikely sibling in the rumored sequel, Triplets.

As enticingly ridiculous as that premise sounds, it has yet to materialize. And now there’s another Twins-based project threatening to make waves.

Jason Momoa, Aquaman and Khal Drogo himself, recently appeared at Celebrity Fan Fest 2019 in San Antonio, Texas. While seated for a panel discussion, a fan in the crowd asked the star about the 1988 comedy. Specifically, whether Momoa would be up to remake it.

“F**kin’ tell me where to sign! Absolutely. That’d be amazing. I love that movie,” Momoa enthusiastically responded.

The full question actually concerned whether Momoa would be up to remake the movie with one of his “Game of Thrones” co-stars, Peter Dinklage. Momoa was equally excited by that idea, praising Dinklage and saying he’d love to work with him. (The two never actually appeared together on “Thrones.”)

The host of the interview suggested starting a grassroots campaign on social media, which Momoa wholeheartedly endorses. Apparently, Twins was a movie Momoa grew up with – we all have soft spots for some questionable flicks (don’t ask me about Rad) – and he is dying to give the comedy about mismatched brothers a 21st-century update.

We’ll see if it gains any traction. Something tells me Peter Dinklage has other plans…

Watch Momoa’s full interview, in which he also expresses a desire to play Wolverine in the eventual, and inevitable, X-Men reboot:
