Toys are no longer just for kids. That much is clear when LEGO sets go for triple figures. And some companies are steering into this, capitalizing on those sweet nostalgia dollars. Hasbro is delivering on that front again with another edition of Play-Doh Grown-up Scents, and this time it’s a throwback to the 90s.
The new “6-pack of nostalgia” will transport adults immediately back to the 1990s, when everything was good (except for phones, the internet, all technology really). The box will hit you right in the memories with colors and styles that evoke the 90s in a hard way. The company is really trying to go for the White Elephant/Gag gift market, but dang-it, this could qualify for an actual gift for some people. The company said it’s a “great throwback to the days of grunge, boy bands, and your favorite flicks on VHS.”
Transport yourself back to the days of grunge rock and Blockbuster. https://t.co/L1FhorB0oC

The six scents are Eau De Boy Band, Pump up the Jamz, Dial-Up Delight, Mall Food Court, Flannel Fresh, and VHS Rental ‘N Chill. Vibrant mall food courts feel as antiquated as the Wooly Mammoth these days, so that’s bound to bring back some visceral memories for grown-ups. And who can forget the smell (?) of walking into a Blockbuster with your entire Friday night ahead of you. The Mall Food Court scent relies heavily on “mystery meat” but that will probably be the easiest one to nail. Although the buttered popcorn scent of VHS Rental ‘N Chill will probably be another home run.
Of course, Play-Doh is still fun for toddlers, even a generation later. While they care more about the color than the scent, mixing some 90s vibes into playtime with your kids is the best way to meet in the middle and remember what life was like when YOU were a kid, wasting away the morning with some Play-Doh.
