“I wish I had the word for how much love my dad has had for me since the day I was born.
I’ve always been his little girl, and even now at 36 years old that’s still what I am to him. Everyone always joked that I had him wrapped about my finger, but the truth is he’s always had my whole heart and I would do absolutely anything for him.
He single-handedly taught me every life lesson, and he has saved me too many times to count. He was the dad even my friends called in high school if they had too much to drink and didn’t know how to get home safely; he’d go get them, no questions asked. He was always there – whether to kick my butt out the door to school at 8am or to pick us all up at 3am and take us through the McDonalds drive through!
Now, at 77, he’s still doing things for me, like learning how to use FaceTime and the world clock on his phone since I moved to Australia and he’s in Canada. He adorably calls me every day, because if I fall out of his ‘recent calls’ list, he hasn’t quite learned how to call me from the ‘contacts’ section! That’s what he tells me at least.
We are as geographically as far as we could be, but closer than ever.”
