She holds her daddy close and gives him a big hug and kiss as he leaves for his shift at the fire hall.
As he goes, she watches him with her face pressed against the glass blowing one last kiss for him to catch.
Some nights mean fighting fires.
Some nights mean saving a life.
Some nights mean responding to horrific accidents.
Some nights mean risking their life for yours.
No matter what the day or night brings, every moment remains singed into their minds and hearts forever.
When his shift is over, he returns home.
He rests his tired head and wraps himself in the comfort and love of his family and sleeps until he wakes to do it all over again.
These are our spouses. Our children. Our siblings. Our friends.
