Father Figures: The Glue

“My dad came from Egypt and married my mom at 45 years old. They couldn’t have kids biologically so they went back to Egypt to adopt.
My dad is a twin and both of my parents wanted twins so they asked for twins. Egypt didn’t allow twins to be adopted together back then though. It’s a very long story but basically my dad went against the entire Egyptian government completely alone without the help or lawyers or friends in the courts.
He managed to get the laws changed so he could adopt us.
23 years ago, I came home. He met us when we were four months old, and had us home in the states within two months – just in time for our first Christmas with our new family.
He was the glue to our family, but he died this year from Covid. He was my best friend, and my family’s strength. Our family still is feeling the effects of his loss in every way. Home hasn’t really felt like home since.
After the night he went into the hospital, I’ve been trying my best to tell the world what he did for me and my sister. For all siblings and twins in Egypt.
He inspired the entire country, all for the love of our mother and us.
I plan to put a book together one day… but it’d be nice to see his face in many places. So I wanted to make your page one of them.”
