“This is my dad, Gary.
He is technically my uncle, he married my aunt, my biological mother’s sister, waaaaay before I was born and they raised two wonderful kids together.
When I was seven and my sister was ten, and my aunt and uncle’s children were already grown, they got a call that my sister and I were left alone at our house for days and we needed somewhere to go.
They never once questioned it, they picked us up that day and from then on we were theirs.
My uncle could have easily told my aunt no, that their kids were grown and it wasn’t his responsibility. He didn’t. He not only took us in but he was the best dad in the world. He was my best friend all through high school. He has been there for everything. Never missed a track practice or meet, and even traveled to watch me get baptized this year.
I’ve always said that I’m the most blessed girl because my daddy chose me.”
