“When I was a boy, my dad was great and I loved him, but he wasn’t my hero.
That changed in 1998, I was 16 and learned he had stage 4 cancer. Over the next three years I watched him fight for his life.
Even as he was going through hell, he had his sense of humor and his dad jokes. In June 2001 after watching me graduate high school he had a stem cell transplant and has been cancer free since!
That Father’s Day, I told him he was my hero!
If I ever have to fight for my life like my dad did, I hope I can be a strong as he was.”
