Nobody looks forward to living in an old folks’ home. No matter how nice the facility, how jam-packed with activities the days are, how friendly the staff is, it’s not the ideal destination. Especially when you consider the price tag.
One man found a better solution, and a cheaper one: Holiday Inn!
Terry Robison is considering his options for when he retires, and he shared the great idea to spend his twilight years at a Holiday Inn on Facebook, where it’s getting a lot of support. The post has generated more than 110,000 likes and over 133,000 shares, and it’s no wonder: the man makes a strong argument!
In the viral post, Terry breaks down his reasons for preferring the well-known hotel chain.
“With the average cost for a nursing home care around $188.00 per day, there is a better way when we get old and too feeble. I’ve already checked on reservations at the Holiday Inn. For a combined long term stay discount and senior discount, it’s $59.23 per night.”
“Breakfast is included, and some have happy hours in the afternoon… Plus, they provide a spa, a swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge, and a washer-dryer, etc. Most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap.”
To amenities like a swimming pool:
“No worries about visits from the family. They will always be glad to find you, and probably check in for a few days for a mini-vacation. The grand-kids can use the pool.”
All the repairs will be taken care of by hotel staff, shuttle buses can get you anywhere you want to go, and more.
Terry even makes the case that with Holiday Inns all over the place, you’re never in danger of getting bored. Just hop to another state. Even Hawaii!
“And you’re not stuck in one place forever, you can move from Inn to Inn, or even from city to city. Want to see Hawaii? They have a Holiday Inn there too.”
I’d long been planning to develop some really bad habits when I retired so that I wouldn’t care about where I was living, but now I’m considering about setting up camp with Terry. He might be a genius!
