“My dad became a dad at 20, proceeded to have six kids by the time he was 29 (?!), and sacrificed so much for us that we eventually forgave him for his midlife crisis, which included a new job, new wife, mullet, karaoke, tattoos, yellow corvette and fake tan.
One time, when I was a poor college student, my dad drove three hours to deliver an envelope of cash for my rent. I woke up the next day and he taped the envelope to my windshield with a note that said:
“Sis, got here at 2am. Didn’t want to wake you up. Here’s your rent money, love, Dad”
Man made a 6-hour round trip on a work night to save my ass. He is far from a perfect dad, but that day, he was Clark W. Griswold.”
