Sometimes, the internet produces something pure and wholesome. Something that stops you mid-scroll and makes you feel good about looking at your phone for once. This week, that’s been this video of two toddlers embracing on the streets of New York City.
Their simple, friendly embrace has melted hearts around the country, quickly garnering more than 10 million views. It’s been retweeted by celebrities, politicians on both sides of the aisles, and by a countless number of people looking illicit an “awwwwwwe” from their friends.
A father of one of boys, Michael Cisneros, told ABC the two kids are inseparable (well, except for the beginning part of this video). The two-year-olds take a music class together and are ‘both excellent dancers.’
It’s OK, and maybe even smart, to take a skeptical eye to most viral videos. You never know when a brand has carefully fabricated a moment in a play for attention, but this one appears to pass those tests. Of course, if they both show up in a Cheerios commercial or something tomorrow, I’ll have to eat those words, but this seems to be purely genuine footage, by a devoted dad who just happens to have a video camera in his pocket.
