Deadpool 3 Will Bring Ryan Reynolds Into the MCU as His R-Rated Self

Amid the flurry of news Disney has been releasing over the past few weeks was confirmation that the Fantastic Four is entering the MCU and that the X-Men may not be far behind. We also know Spider-Man 3 is percolating, along with the Dr. Strange sequel, both of which may pave the way for various universes to interact with our established characters.
One established character who is awaiting a sequel is everyone’s favorite R-rated superhero, Deadpool. So what of the foul-mouthed merc?
While doing press ahead of the premiere of Disney+’s WandaVision series, MCU head Kevin Feige confirmed that Deadpool 3 is not only in the works but that Ryan Reynolds‘ decidedly un-family-friendly snark will be officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And he’ll still be R-rated.
“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year,” Feige told Collider.
“Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
Sounds like the movie won’t even begin filming until 2022, so it will be a while before we get any idea what it’s about or how it fits into the current MCU timeline.
Whether it hits theaters in 2023 or later, it sounds like it will be worth the wait, just to see exactly how someone like Deadpool fits in with the wholesome Avengers team. Let’s just say Steve Rogers is probably glad he left the team, otherwise he’d be bound to have a heart attack hearing the stuff that flies out of Wade Wilson’s potty mouth!
