For some reason, they are still planning to make another Indiana Jones movie. It was confirmed at the Disney investor’s meeting in December. James Mangold is directing, and Harrison Ford is starring, and this is somehow still happening.
Don’t get it twisted: Indiana Jones is one of the best franchises of all time, despite the fact that the fourth installment, The Sequel That Shall Not Be Named, exists. It’s very easy to ignore the fact that TSTSNBN ever happened. But if they make a fifth movie, and it’s as atrocious as that one, then we’re gonna have to reckon with the fact that two out of five are trash. I don’t want to have to do that, so I don’t want them to make it. Harrison Ford is at least 200 years old by now!
That said, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is awesome. And the news that she has landed the lead female role bodes well for the fifth movie to be better than the fourth. She is a much better costar than Shia LaBoeuf!
Deadline broke the news that the Fleabag star has signed onto Indy 5, which plans to start filming this summer. There is nothing known about the plot, but there has been speculation that Indy will be hunting the Fountain of Youth, and I’ve even heard rumors that this will allow the franchise to potentially recast Indy with a younger actor – once the legendary archaeologist avails himself of the magic water.
Once heard the idea floated of INDY 5 doing the Fountain of Youth, ultimately culminating in a scene where Harrison Ford dunked his head into the Fountain…and when he came back up, it would be Chris Pratt.
This was entirely speculation but the horror of the idea never left me. https://t.co/DDGd3WUTwI

This is all speculation, of course, as is the dream that Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s immense talents can revive a franchise that embarrassed itself last time out and probably should have let the Last Crusade be its last crusade. But Hollywood doesn’t work like that, so now we get to hope and pray that some fresh blood, via director Mangold and PWB, can make a fifth installment worthwhile.
