Being a stay-at-home-parent is no easy feat. When you’re tasked with running a household while caring for your kid(s), sometimes, you have to get a little creative. With today’s current technology, we’re unfortunately incapable of being multiple places at once. So how the heck are you supposed to watch your finicky baby while doing your laundry list of daily tasks? For one stay-at-home-dad, a combination of innovation and Cheerios made all the difference.
Darcey Bru, a comedian, and stay-at-home-dad who goes by the name dad.at.home on TikTok. This creative dad reminds us of the importance of working smarter, not harder. In a recent TikTok, Bru’s “Dad Tip #5” combines baby care with yard work.
“If you have lots to do and you’re in charge of watching baby, you need two things,” Bru begins.
First, he explains, you need a baby carrier. Baby stays with you, and they’re comfortable enough that they don’t make too much of a fuss. To further prevent any sort of complaints a fussy baby may have, Bru reveals his secret weapon: a cheerio necklace worn around his neck, placed perfectly at his baby’s mouth level.

“Baby can have a snack while you do the yardwork,” he says casually, as if he didn’t just drop something next-level genius.
Viewers were understandably in awe of Bru’s simple brilliance. “Market the Cheerio necklace before someone else does HURRY MAN,” a TikTok user named Aimi wrote. Other viewers piled on to compliment Bru on his creativity, shaking their heads that they didn’t think of it when their kids were younger. Darcey Bru isn’t the hero we deserve, but he’s the one we need right now.
