In How I Met Your Mother, the popular sitcom about a dad, voiced by Bob Saget , telling his kids the story of his dating life back when he was a twenty-something in NYC. In the flashbacks, Ted is played by Josh Radner, who looks and sounds nothing like Bob Saget (as Family Guy hilariously pointed out once).
The show eventually petered out, but not before it launched Slapsgiving, relaunched Neil Patrick Harris, and had a few good seasons. Now it’s getting a spin-off of sorts.
In How I Met Your Father, Hilary Duff’s Sophie takes over as a single New Yorker navigating modern-day dating apps to find her future baby daddy. This time, the show is narrated by Kim Cattrall as Sophie’s future self. She lives in Manhattan in 2021, with a close-knit group of friends – Jesse (Chris Lowell), Valentina (Francia Raisa), Charlie (Tom Ainsley), Ellen (Tien Tran), and Sid (Suraj Sharma) — all in the throes of their uncertain twenties. The show has been in the works for a while, and will premiere on Hulu next year.
We finally got a trailer, which gives us Cattrall’s narrator and is heavy on the hilarious hijinks of navigating sex and the city.
Check it out. How I Met Your Father hits Hulu on January 18th:
