Everyone loves receiving a package in the mail. While bills and bank statements roll in on the regular, a box (or many boxes) often means something you ordered has finally arrived. Perhaps the only feeling better than spotting a box is receiving one without knowing exactly what it contains.
Is it a gift? Did you shop in your sleep again?
So when Amazon aficionado Emily McGuire’s husband walked in carrying a Prime box on her birthday last week, she was likely wondering what was packed inside. However, the gift her husband, Waylon “Mac” McGuire, was carrying was the box itself. It was a custom-made homage to his wife’s self-admitted love of online shopping. “I just laughed. It was super funny because he makes fun of me for all the Amazon boxes we get,” McGuire told Good Morning America.
The totally realistic confectionary creation only reveals itself upon closer inspection. From the authentic Amazon Prime tape wrapped around it – to the USPS label cleverly addressed to 1234 Birthday Lane, it appears Mac nailed every detail. He did have a bit of help from Inspiring Grounds and Sweet Dreams Bakery in Dunn, North Carolina who baked up the box at his request.
McGuire, who’s a photographer by trade, shared photos of the amazing ode to retail on her Facebook page. The post has since gone viral, popping up on local news stations and national morning shows over the past few days.
While the gift was perfect, it truly is the thought that counts most — a sentiment McGuire echoed in her post, saying “In that moment, I knew my husband gets me.”
