Who is Alex Trebek?
The self-proclaimed “62-day survivor” has announced his return for the 36th season of the hit TV game show Jeopardy!
His return comes just months after Trebek announced his battle with cancer — news fans feared would sideline the well-known staple of televisions screens for the past several decades. However, the veteran personality told People Magazine back in June that he was already near-remission, with no plans to retire in the near future.
A recently released trailer for the new season of Jeopardy features Trebek doing his patented contestant interviews as well as behind the scenes footage of the host preparing for the show. Trebek telling fans “It’s another day at the office for me.”

The 79-year-old, instantly identifiable star of the small screen goes on to say he’s only looking forward. “I’ve gone through a lot of chemotherapy, and thankfully, that is now over. I’m on the mend, and that’s all I can hope for right now.”
Fans from around the globe rejoiced in the news, taking to social media to share their well-wishes and welcome back the man who has entertained families for generations.
What a delight to see and hear how well you are doing. Fighting cancer requires a champion effort, and to see you coming back looking healthy and happy is a monumental joy for more people than your probably realize. We will continue to root for you. Way to go, and welcome back ????

The clip even shows Trebek doing a few pushups backstage, quelling any remaining fears as to his health or how excited he is to make his triumphant return. Video of Trebek’s birthday episode was also included, showing him being presented with a cake that reads, “Who is 79?” while the audience sang “Happy Birthday.”
The silver-haired host has been part of pop culture for as long as many can recall, a trend we hope continues for many, many years to come.
