Activision has been teasing a Call of Duty Warzone collaboration featuring action movie icons John McClane and Rambo for some time now. It wasn’t very subtle either, with name drops like “Nakatomi Plaza” showing up in cryptic tweets. Well, now it’s official and we have a release date too. The ’80s Action Heroes’ event begins on May 20th, 2021, which is literally just days away. The update will be available to Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, Call of Duty Warzone, and Call of Duty Mobile players.
You can check out the grainy, 80s inspired, action-packed trailer down below.

The shoeless John McClane will be available in the “Die Hard” bundle which goes live on May 19th and runs until June 18th. This bundle includes the McClane Operator, a finishing move, three weapon blueprints, a Legendary Calling Card and Emblem, an Epic Watch, and an Epic Weapon Charm.
The shirtless Rambo on the other hand will be available during the same time in the “Rambo” bundle which includes the Rambo Operator, two Finishing Moves, his signature bow and arrow, three weapon blueprints, a Legendary Calling Card and Emblem, an Epic Watch and an Epic Weapon Charm. Unfortunately, a price hasn’t been released yet for these bundles, so we’ll just have to wait and see how much we have to fork out in order to see who draws first blood and who dies hard. Also worth mentioning is that these aren’t reskins of current operators. They’ve been built from the ground up according to Activision.
Along with these new operators comes some new game modes as well. In Warzone, the new mode is called “Power Grab” which features a circle collapse that will be smaller and happen in five stages, and there won’t be a Gulag to revive from. In Black Ops Cold War, there will be “Die Hardpoint”, which is a race to gain 200 points first by eliminating enemies and capturing Hardpoints. There will also be “Rambo’s Gun Game”, which is a Free-for-All mode where players need to earn at least one elimination with 20 different weapons.
It wouldn’t feel right if their memorable settings from the films didn’t make an appearance, but the developers have you covered. Nakatomi Plaza from Die Hard and the Survival Camps and CIA Outpost from Rambo will be added to the current Warzone map for a limited time. I’m sure these new locations will absolutely be swarming with players when they go live with the update, so be prepared for a battle the minute you land.
