Social media is littered with videos of people doing celebrity impressions. Often, these videos showcase someone’s versatility as they run through a wide range of different voices and facial expressions to accurately replicate a famous actor’s speech and persona. These videos are impressive as acts of comedic impersonation, but they are just short bits.
Jaime Costa does much more than quick impressions. The YouTube star is already known for his spot-on impressions, but his latest video is leaving fans stunned.
In an audition reel that is catching fire online, Costa portrays beloved comedian and actor Robin Williams on the set of Mork and Mindy. In the clip, Williams is getting ready to shoot when he is told of his friend John Belushi’s death. Costa straight-up inhabits Williams, bouncing from happy and manic to heartbroken and contemplative, all the while doing a spot-on version of Williams’s voice, expressions, and public personality.
It’s a truly impressive performance that has fans calling for Costa to play the late Williams, who we lost in 2015 after a long bout with depression and Diffuse Lewy Body disease. The footage itself is not from any existing or forthcoming project, it’s just Costa putting his skills on display and hoping to get noticed.
Which he definitely did. Check it out:
