Rob Kenney has made a name for himself as the world’s dad, creating the much-needed “Dad, How Do I?” YouTube channel centered around teaching important life skills to those without father figures of their own. Let’s be honest though, we can all learn something from this multi-talented dad – Kenney has amassed 3.3 million YouTube subscribers in just a year and with good reason.
The “Dadvice” expert covers everything from changing a tire to proper shaving technique and even reads us the occasional bedtime story to round out a hard day’s work. Recently, however, Kenney announced that he was focusing his attention on a different kind of book, one far more personal than those previously featured on his channel. This book, well, he’s writing it himself.
Kenney’s own father left when he was 12, and after having kids of his own, he decided to become the man he needed when he was younger. By sharing lessons he wishes he’d learned from his dad, Kenney has filled a gap for millions of people around the world in a unique and touching way. With his recently-announced book, Kenney is furthering (fathering?) his mission by creating both a memoir and a compilation of his best Dadvice.
The personal stories Kenney shares in his book are meant to inform, but also to inspire. This top-tier dad reminds those of us emerging from difficult childhoods are not our parents, that our paths are our own to forge. Kenney inspires us to overcome the obstacles life throws at us, staying true to who we are even in the most trying times.
The second part of Kenney’s “Dad How Do I?” book is, of course, packed with his tried and true Dadvice. Included are 50 illustrated how-tos, most of which are brand new. Between the hands-on lessons and Kenney’s poignant story of overcoming life’s most difficult challenges, every single person can take something away from this pro dad’s book.
“Dad, How Do I?: Practical ‘Dadvice’ For Everyday Tasks and Successful Living” hits shelves on May 18, but you can pre-order it on Amazon today.
