On Sunday, the internet went wild when the long-awaited first look at Spider-man: No Way Home showed up online. Except it wasn’t supposed to. The trailer leaked, and the only way to watch it was via grainy, stolen footage.
If you managed to resist, you were finally rewarded late Monday night when the actual official version was released, and now we know that many of the rumors that have been circulating for months are true: the multiverse is here.
Thanks to Peter’s desire to put the “everyone knows I’m Spider-man” genie (that Mysterio unleashed at the end of the last movie) back in the bottle, combined with Dr. Strange’s ego (surely only increased after he helped reverse Thanos’s snap), the duo unwittingly unleashes the multiverse, about which they know “frighteningly little,” complete with the Green Goblins bombs from the first Tobey Maguire movie, and Doctor Octopus from the second one. Whether Andrew Garfield’s Spidey and his villains appear, as Jamie Foxx has been rumored to, is yet to be seen.
But we’ve finally seen something. And it looks like a lot of fun!
