The Rock. Ryan Reynolds. Gal Gadot. That’s enough to sell a movie, and that’s what Netflix was banking on when they teamed this trio up for “Red Notice.” The first trailer dropped today and it’s everything you want and everything you expect.
Officially, Dwayne Johnson is playing an FBI profiler out to nab an internationally renowned art thief (Gadot) and teams up with another art thief (Reynolds) to help take her down. There are plenty of exotic destinations, fights, explosions, and quippy banter. It’s going to be the easiest home run Netflix has hit in a while.
And it didn’t come cheap. There was a bidding war for the movie, and with good cause, as it stars three of the biggest stars currently working. Netflix reportedly paid $200 million for the movie, so they’re counting on a lot of eyeballs on it.
Blockbusters have done terrific on streaming services as the rise in Covid cases has left the theater experience in a bit of limbo after a strong return. Reynolds’ most recent movie (Free Guy) was one of his very best, and Johnson is also coming off a big pandemic movie win (Jungle Cruise).
You couldn’t ask for more star power in a movie, and this one features some of our absolute favorites. You can watch it on November 12th on Netflix.
