As the pandemic winds down (knock on wood!) and summer approaches, we may finally have more reasons to leave our couch and stop watching Netflix. But not if Netflix can help it!
Recently, it seems like Disney+ and HBO Max have been dominating the streaming wars, with the former launching Marvel’s highly-anticipated TV shows – so far we’ve gotten WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, with Loki up next in June – and the latter blasting blockbusters into our living rooms, with Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Godzilla vs. Kong drawing viewers.
But in a new video for inventors that Netflix released, they’ve made it clear that they aren’t going anywhere.
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos appears in the video, in which it’s announced that a handful of the streaming service’s most-watched shows are returning with new seasons before the end of the year. Those shows include Cobra Kai, which premiered its third season in January, The Witcher, starring the Snydercut’s Henry Cavill, which has its second season coming, and You, starring Penn Badgley, which moved over from Lifetime and became a streaming sensation.
The shows are managing to return with new seasons despite Covid-related production delays slowing things down, making it clear that Netflix is still a major player in streaming, Obviously. They also have a bunch of movies coming out this year, including Snyder’s Army of the Dead, Amy Adams’s The Woman in the Window and the Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot action movie Red Notice.
No exact release dates on the new seasons just yet, but they are set to launch in the fourth quarter of the year, so sometime between October and December. At which point we’ll hopefully have so much sunshine and socialization under our belts and will be ready to stream our way through the winter.
