Now that we’re knee-deep in What If… and have already seen three other MCU shows, it’s time to start asking what’s next for the MCU on Disney+. We know the movie slate; Shang-Chi opened big, The Eternals is next, and Spider-Man isn’t far behind. But despite awareness of a number of TV shows in development – including Moon Knight and She-Hulk – we don’t quite know when and in what order they’ll be premiering. But we know Hawkeye is first.
He may not be the most famous, or most beloved Avenger, but aside from Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Hawkeye has always been the most human. Jeremy Renner is back as Clint Barton, family man, and gifted archer, in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, but with Black Widow long gone, he has a new partner: Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. A few months back we got some stills of the former Oscar nominee sharing the screen with Renner, and now we get a full-fledged trailer for the series.
Official synopsis: Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
The synopsis makes it sound like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles but with bows and arrows, and the first footage showcases something of a comedic romp, complete with Christmas music and… Steve Rogers musical?
The trailer, which does not include Florence Pugh’s Yelena, despite heavy rumors that the Black Widow co-star will appear on the show.
Hawkeye hits Disney+ on November 24th.
